We used to have a painter (called Csontváry-Kosztka Tivadar) who excelled in painting urban landscapes timed at when the natural light (Sunshine or moon beam) is not enough so there is need for artificial light. He has created a magical atmosphere in these paintings of his and I like him very much. Your pic reminds me of his works. I myself am constantly looking for scenes like this, although my camera is not suitable really for capturese like this.
Szelso Fa, my camera isn't really suitable for low light shooting either. I took a whole load of shots coming along the canal bank, but because there was nowhere for me to rest the camera, they all had to be taken from hand and they turned out terribly. For this shot I rested the camera on the wall of a bridge. The moment I took it I knew it was right. All my evening shots are taken from solid surfaces.
I really should carry a small tripod about with me.
Wow! Just looked at Tivadar's paintings. Thankyou for the compliment and the comparison. Any likeness is only in image. I press a button to capture a scene, he created worlds. I'm trying to remember what expressionist he reminds me off........Marc Chagall I think..........
Yes, Csontváry did have his own world - to bad, his maddness captured him and finally it never let him go... I am glad to have introduced you to one of our famous painters:) And a tripod is always a good idea! I don't have one, though... Finding a solid surface is sometimes hard...
