how old is it? you know it seems medieval and it reminds me how almost every medieval church is surrounded by modern buildings. I know the there is a thing called architectural development, but why is it so common to have modern and mediocre buildings around nice and old fashiioned buildings? take Köln, Germany for example. it is horrible how closely they surrounded the beautiful dome with nondescript ugly gray blocks.
It's funny Szelso fa, now I look at the pictures, I see why you thought it was one building. It's actually three different churches all within a few minutes walking distance of each other. The top one is the Free Presbyterian Church on Woodlands Road, the next one is the Epyscopalian Cathederal on Great Western Rd and the last is the Landsdowne just along from the Cathederal. All the buildings are about 100-150 years old. This part of Glasgow didn't really become populated until the latter half of the 19th century.
Anyway, the surrounding tennements are actually almost as old as the churches. The biggest contrast you get in Glasgow is in the city centre where the oldest structures rub shoulders with modern glass and steel structures. More info than you needed probably.....
